Hello world, or hello DA to be precise.

I used to post my artwork [here], my old account.

I've decided to discontinue that account, and start over here, with a much more focused direction on my art.

I'm notorious for being all over the place, and my old account contained writings, drawings and photographs. Therefore this account will be drawing dedicated only. No more writings. No more photographs.

I've hit a quarter-life crisis where I feel like I'm just not good enough, and that I haven't progressed far enough with my art at this age. I guess the difference is that some people my age went to art school, while I went to journo school.

Therefore I've been forcing myself to work on basics - Realism - The backbone of all art. And, this account is me trying to improve my art. Hopefully each picture will be something I'm proud of, and will be benchmarks for myself. And also for fun.

My style has been called everything between anime to South-East Asian to manga style. I guess that's the way I draw freehand, as a cumulation of many years of influences from Taiwanese comics to Singaporean comics to all the manga and anime I've watched and read since I've been exposed to them.

Even so, my first love was the western style of art (blame Saturday morning cartoons), and lately I've been reading comics from DC and Marvel, courtesy of the boyfriend who swings that way. I've been a fan of Alex Ross since I read Kingdom Come a couple of years ago, and I guess that's what sparked my interest in photorealism again.

I know my gallery doesn't look like my old one so far, but it will in time. And it'll be better.

I also go through periods of depression, and my drawing has been one of the few things that have been constant for me.

So here's to art and life.
